Sand Relief™
contains exceptionally pure natural psyllium seed husk, a
highly soluble plant fiber. Psyllium offers several
advantages over other dietary sources of bulk fiber. It
has been studied in several species for its high degree of
solubility (80%+), superior ability to retain water in the
intestinal solution,[1] improvement of VFA (volatile fatty
acid) production in the hind gut,[2] and excellent
clearance of the intestine. Psyllium supplies
approximately five times more soluble fiber than oat bran,
and eight times more than wheat bran. It is “the
laxative of choice...[that]collects the sand and
lubricates its passage through the digestive tract.” [3]
Psyllium is ideal for horses grazing in sandy areas or in
need of additional dietary fiber.

A
New Level of Purity The ultra
pure psyllium in Sand Relief™ is made from the highly
filtered husks of selected psyllium seed. Virtually all of
the residual non-soluble fiber found in most feed grade
products is removed. Sand Relief concentrates exactly what
you want in a psyllium supplement: pure soluble gel-forming
fiber for maximum formation of the mucilaginous gel that
gets the job done inside the horse.
Swell
Volume Test Shows Why Purity is Important When
psyllium is mixed with water, it expands into a lubricating
“jelly” mixture. The expansion is greatest, and the
“jelly” most lubricating, when the psyllium is very pure
and soluble. Laboratories use this fact to conduct a
standard evaluation of psyllium quality and gel-forming
action, the swell volume test. In this assay, the
psyllium sample is mixed with a specific quantity of water.
The growth in volume is then measured over time to develop a
score for the psyllium being tested. Sand Relief™
generates a swell volume approximately twice that of
standard feed grade psyllium products. This means that Sand
Relief can be fed in smaller servings for outstanding
economy with excellent results.
Veterinary
Testing of Sand Relief's Value for Horses To
make sure you get nutrition that works, Sand Relief™'s
action was evaluated and confirmed by veterinarians using
large scale radiography. Sand Relief™ is the smart and
economical way to avoid sand problems and add beneficial
soluble bulk to the horse's diet.

Feeding Make sure horse has
access to fresh water. For maintenance of horses
grazing in sandy areas: Each month, feed one 4 ounce
scoop daily for seven days. For daily use as a soluble
fiber supplement: Feed one-half scoop (2 ounces)
daily. A 4 ounce scoop is included. |
