Kentucky Leather Lead Strap
No photo can do justice to the look, let alone the feel of a quality leather lead strap.
We select our finest, longest, most blemish – free hides so that we can offer only the finest, longest heavy-weight lead straps.
Every 1″ wide lead strap measures no less than 7 feet (not counting the chain or snap) long and is carefully edged, creased, and rubbed for a comfortable feel in your hands.
The hardware is triple stitched into the lead to insure years of use.
Dark oiled for a perfect match to our stable, dress and track halters or available in harness leather* to match our turnouts.
*Note that harness leather leads tend to require a little “break-in” time (just like harness leather reins).

About Adding a Brass Nameplate to your lead.
The brass plate will be set just off of the hardware stitching. This means that, YES, it will be in the area where the lead is commonly held onto. For this reason, we do not recommend adding the plates to leads that are mean to be used frequently.
To order:
- Select the single line or two line option with your lead.
- Type in your text. If ordering a 2-line plate, designate the second line with a plus (+) sign.
- The plate will be riveted to lead just below the hardware stitching.
- NOTICE: When deciding what to engrave on your plate, remember that “less is more”. Crowding in information (sires, dams, long association names) makes the print smaller and therefore makes your plate more difficult to read. While we do not enforce a “hard cap” on engraving, it is best to not go over 20-25 letters and spaces per line. We will not be held responsible for any perceived lack of quality when a plate exceeds these guidelines.
- On that note: Two line plates will be engraved as “best fit”. We do our best to assure quality and “readability”, but we cannot guarantee either.
